The peel and stick kind just doesn't compare. I purchased the laminator sheets by GBC and inserted the artwork inside and ran it through the machine. The machine heated up very quickly (less than 5 minutes, but be sure to press the button for either 3mm or 5mm). Just plugging it in does not ready the machine for laminating. It does not get hot to handle and the the sound when on is nonexistent. When you are running a sheet through it, the sound is a low hum. The laminating is quick with no air bubbles or areas where there isn't a seal. Besides art work, I've used it to laminate study guides, book marks, business cards (for suitcase ID tag), name plates (for school pick up), chore charts, and practice math sheets. In the last two instances, I just have my child use dry erase markers on it and they can be wiped clean and used again. This laminator is very... Today it began smoking and almost started a small fire in our house. Yikes. We're past the 1 month return policy so we're stuck with this POS fire hazard. $61 out the window. Comes in handy when I need it. Only wish it came with some sample pouches to start laminating right away. Takes a few minutes to heat up for heat lamination.
